A published kid-safe framework apps self-attest to, a mark parents can look for, and community monitoring: anyone can flag a concern with evidence, and KIDIGLOO investigates and can revoke the mark.

What the mark means — and doesn't: it is a trust base built on the developer's self-declaration plus public accountability — not an audit, test, or guarantee, and KIDIGLOO does not independently examine apps. Parents should still use their judgement.

The framework

Five principles apps attest to

P1 · Best interests first

Wellbeing over engagement or revenue. No dark patterns; no pressure to spend.

P2 · Privacy by default

Minimal data, high-privacy defaults, profiling/geolocation off, no behavioural tracking or targeted ads to children, verifiable parental consent, easy deletion.

P3 · Age-appropriate content

Content suits the age band; UGC/chat controls + reporting; parent-gated links and purchases.

P4 · AI guardrails

Disclose AI; no unsupervised child companions; crisis escalation; refuse harmful or sexualised-minor content; resist manipulation.

P5 · Transparency & control

Plain-language data/AI “nutrition label”, real parental controls, honest marketing, a working public complaint channel.

How it works

Register & self-attest
The developer signs the participation agreement and self-attests, with evidence links (privacy policy, data/SDK disclosure, age-gate, and a public complaint channel). KIDIGLOO records what's declared — it does not audit the app.

List & display the mark
The app joins the public registry as “Certified (self-attested)” and may display the mark under a revocable licence.

Community monitoring
Every certified app must let the public flag concerns. KIDIGLOO runs an intake for evidenced complaints.

Investigate
On evidence, KIDIGLOO notifies the developer, gives a right to respond and a cure period, and assesses against the framework — publishing only its own findings in neutral language.

Act
Outcomes: no action · cure notice · suspended · revoked. The registry updates; a revoked app must stop using the mark. Annual re-attestation + best-effort spot-checks.

Flag a concern

Seen something on a certified app that breaks the framework? Tell us. The fastest route is the app's own in-app report option; you can also bring it to KIDIGLOO.

✓ Include evidence: a clear description and links/URLs to what you saw.
✗ Do not upload images or files. We only accept descriptions and links.
! If it involves child sexual abuse material or a child in danger, contact the police / local authorities immediately — not us. We are not an emergency service and cannot store such material.

Report to KIDIGLOO

We review evidenced reports, give the developer a right to respond, and may suspend or revoke certification. We publish only our own findings.

KIDIGLOO Certified means the app’s developer has self-attested that it meets the KIDIGLOO Kid-Safe Framework and has agreed to community monitoring. It is not an audit, test, or guarantee by KIDIGLOO, and not a guarantee the app is safe. KIDIGLOO does not independently examine apps. Parents should use their own judgement.
